Asuncion, Paraguay

We spent almost 20 hours on the bus to cross the hot and dry Chaco region north west of Paraguay – thank god mostly on paved roads.  When we got in this capital of Paraguay, I first thought this was a joke, but later found out this is what the city really looked like.  Like a lot of Latin American countries, this country has been under dictatorship for a long time, and apparently the buildings were still lack of renovation and reconstruction over time.  Needless to say, we were sorely disappointed with this first stop of Paraguay.
