Arriving in New Orleans quite early for the business on that day, I decided to take a look at the Jackson square while waiting.
You can take a horse carriage around this part of the town.
Jackson Square.
A cathedral in the center back of the square.
The center cathedral.
Next to the cathedral was Tableu, a classic French-Creole restaurant.
Behind the cathedral are the streets of the French Quarter.
Intriguing perfume bottle.
Hand-made masks shop, unfortunately, no picture could land on their beautifully hand-crafted (and pricey) masks. I was privileged to take a picture of the craftsman at work.
Man playing Frank Sinatra songs.
An instrument I found in Texas as well, these ones finally made the right tunes and came with instructions.
Clip boards and game boards.
Bottle tops, and different ways to open them.
French balcony.
The biker in this picture was hit by a car just seconds later.
I heard a scream and saw he flew a few feet off from his bike. Everyone came around to check if he was OK, turned out he was mostly OK.
What a lucky guy, his head barely missed a building column.
Barely missed the French Quarter Festival.
Next up, French Market.
Passing by a voodoo art shop.
French Market.
Crawfish cake.
Another feature of New Orleans, the booze.
Taking Canal Street – a touristy street, to Bourbon street – the most touristy street.
Shops selling “revealing” clothing.
You will not miss the Bourbon Street. Almost every other tourist turns onto this street.
Beer gardens everywhere.
$3 for 20 oz, or $10 for 64 oz hurricane fish bowl.
I didn’t try the hurricane – I don’t want to miss my flight back to Dallas.
China Merchants Association.
Tiled street signs.
Shot stands.
Passing by musicians playing in the Jackson Plaza late afternoon.
The Mississippi dike was right across from the Jackson Square.
You can walk along the dike.
One of the only two steam boats left on Mississippi; tourists boarding.
Love Wins.
Looks like this boat was going to hit the bridge.
People started noticing the boat running into the bridge
Many passersby stopped and started watching
It barely made it.
A shop selling very strong coffee… and very spicy nuts.
