El Calafate, Argentina

As the gateway to the famous Glacier Perito Moreno, El Calafate is know as a tourist town.  We met up with Henry and arrived there late night. It wasn’t long before we realized that most of the hostels were booked full that night.  Following him we found a big nice hostel not too far from his that charged $20 per person.  We had a nice sleep in bunk beds and finally resolved to move to a smaller, cheaper hotel the next day.

We heard the town is beautiful beyond words… though we were a bit disappointed with “beyond words” part.  It is a city, but that’s it.  So we heard that this place is pretty much owned by the president of Argentina since half of the business here are her property.  Perhaps that’s why this city is a famous attraction.
