Jisung’s Visit, Shanghai, China

Announcing my move to Shanghai prompted a few friends of mine the urge to visit Shanghai. Jisung made his as soon as I have arrived in Shanghai – in a better weather than when I visited him in Korea during the blizzardy February .

I decided to take him to a salsa dance on the top floor of Renaissance Hotel near Yuyuan, where you get a view of the entire city – for free.

But lets not forget that Yuyuan is also a perfect dinning and snacks place. Strange foods abound – we thought it was a mushroom but it’s actually a chocolate-covered steamed bun.

The salsa place also had a magic show that night.

Tricks like this one, how do you separate the two rubber bands? It’s called magic.

A friend suggested Shanghai Aquarium. I found the Chinese price scheme extremely unfair for taller people…

IMG_20150817_151444

Highlight of the aquarium is of course the underwater tunnel.

Entrance of the underwater tunnel was an exhibition of various jelly fish.

Underwater tunnel claimed to be the world’s longest.

Then we went to the Bund.

I always like to meet people up by the landmark bull statue.

At night we decided to go up to one of the three highest towers: Jin Mao Tower – left, World Financial Center (SWFC) – middle, Shanghai Tower – right.

We ended up going up the Jin Mao Tower.

You get a clear view of the Eastern Pearl…

and Huangpu River.

The building next door, Shanghai Tower, is the tallest building in China, second tallest in the world (after the Dubai one).

With many office floors still empty.

Jin Mao Tower, however, has the world’s highest five-star hotel so far.

We decided to go to the bottom floor of the hotel and take a look at the ceiling – only 50 some floors in height.

While dancing, I found the magician guy, Mr. Chen, at work again.

Amy decided to take a good picture of him.
