Krakow, Poland

For the train from Budapest to Krakow I have almost missed out my train – turned out that I have arrived the wrong train station and only had 15 minutes before my train departs. The taxi driver charged me 20 euros for a 10 minute drive. Worst of all, he wouldn’t let me reach my backpack in fear of me running off with his money… except that my money was inside the backpack. I had several bruises trying to fight him off so that I could get the money under the pressure of time.  But I finally caught up with the train as the train slowly rolling off the station….

Kraknow is probably the prettiest city in Poland, partly because it wasn’t bombed during the WWII so most of historical buildings are still original and in good maintenance.  I love its quaint historical center and my absolutely fantastic hostel – great people and great beds.  For $7 a night, I got a nice bed with a full buffet breakfast filled with locally made ham and cheese.  The hostel also organizes fun activities like naked runs and barbeques.  Though I didn’t have time to make to the naked run and the barbeque was cancelled due to the rain, I still had a blast with their friendly staff and other guests in the hostel.
