St. Petersburg II- Peter and Paul Fortress & Bridge Opening (top)

[nggallery id=73]

Peter and Paul Fortress was well worth a whole day of visit. It has a few neat museums inside the fortress, a cathedral which houses remainds of most of late Russian Tzar family – including the 7 that was murdered at the end of their monarch. I read a lot about the murder of Tzar family before coming to Russia, and I have to say upon looking at their coffins, my heart shook a bit. To imagine the horror they have experienced during their last minutes, and see them here made me very sad.

Later that night a couple of us went up to St. Issac Cathedral to watch the bridge from the top. While St. Petersburg’s night sceneries was spectacular, it was rather hard to see the bridge openings from up here.
